Moderator Michele Piazza, Founder & Principal of MP Global Ventures, LLC
Michele Piazza is a Global IT Executive who brings a unique blend of technology and business leadership experience as your strategic trusted advisor and security partner.
Michele is the Founder & Principal of MP Global Ventures, LLC, a woman-owned, independent, business focused security and technology management advisory firm. Michele aligns with C-Level IT Security, Business and Operations executives to provide sustainable security ,technology , risk management and privacy solutions. Michele recently launched Mountain View Partners, Inc , an advisory firm focused on Security and Privacy for the Remote Worker and K-12 Sectors.
Born in Indiana, Michele came from a family of 5 girls where her parents instilled independence, a strong work ethic, integrity, problem solving, and service as core values. Michele began her technology career as a young programmer at US Steel in Chicago, where she was selected for a two-year international assignment in Venezuela as part of US Steel’s Consulting technology team.
Her experience continued to blossom through various leadership positions in technology at Beatrice Foods Company, Citibank and American National Bank. She was instrumental in 5 mergers: American National Bank into First Chicago, First Chicago NBD, Bank One, WaMu, and finally JPMorgan Chase. Prior to launching MP Global Ventures, LLC, she had a 20+year career at JPMorgan Chase as a Senior Vice President. She progressed through multiple management positions in both technology and business.
Her experience reflects direct management of all aspects of technology, including system development, operations, business intelligence, project management & governance, mergers & acquisitions, vendor management, risk management, security and compliance, domestically and globally.

Michele holds an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. She is an active member of SIM (Society of Information Management), ISACA (Information Systems Audit & Control Association), SWIT (Senior Women in Technology,) , ISSA (Information Systems Security Association) and InfraGard.
Michele became a YWCA Metropolitan of Chicago Board Member in July 2105 and brings her energy and resources to empower women through the YWCA programs: techGYRLS, Innovation & Technology Institute, & Developing Digital Diversity. She is also an active member of the YWCA Audit and Enterprise Risk Management Committees. As a passionate Advisory Board Member for the Naperville- based innovation incubator ,hub88 , she has led TechTalks on topics such as “CleanTech”, Privacy and CyberSecurity.
Michele is an avid runner and achieved “Marathon Maniac” status following the completion of her 8th marathon. She enjoys yoga, cycling, hiking and international travel. She recently laced up her boots to hike Mt Kilimanjaro in January 2016 with her husband, David. In November 2019, they traveled with National Geographic to explore Antarctica.
She resides in the western suburbs with her husband David and their blended family of 6 children.
Panelist Glenn Kapatensky, CISO, Trexin Consulting
Glenn Kapetansky has a passion for building systems, organizations, and teams, and has done so across a number of business sectors, technologies, and roles. For over 20 years Glenn has advised senior executives and built teams throughout the delivery cycle: strategy, architecture, development, quality assurance, deployment, operational support, financials, and project planning. His credentials were earned in such diverse industries as healthcare, finance, energy, consumer products, and telecommunications. Glenn’s current focus areas—as Chief Security Officer and Technology Capability Lead at Trexin Group—are agile management, data protection, and audit/regulatory compliance.
Glenn speaks and publishes on occasion. He has been named numerous times in various Who’s Who, and is a repeat recipient of Bell Labs’ Arno Penzias Award for Innovation in the Marketplace. He is active in the Chicago CISO of the Year, CyberSecurity Collaboration Forum, and the Technology Leaders’ Association. Glenn’s certifications and memberships include IEEE, ISC^2 (CISSP), ISACA (CISA, CDPSE), and ITIL (SM).
Panelist Valerie Lyons, COO BH Consulting, PhD Privacy Scholar
Valerie is a highly experienced and respected senior information security and privacy professional. Currently COO of a niche cyber and privacy consulting firm in Ireland, Valerie is also their key subject matter expert in European data protection and privacy frameworks. A believer in lifelong learning, Valerie is also currently in the final year of her PhD research in privacy in the nonmarket environment.
Prior to her role as COO of BH Consulting Ireland, Valerie spent almost 15 years as Chief Information Security Officer with KBC Bank. CISSP qualified since 2001, Valerie also holds a BSc in Information Systems from Trinity College, together with a Masters in Leadership. Valerie has also lectured in several national academic institutions including Dublin City University, and is a regular speaker at international conferences such as COSAC, ICIS, ISACA to name but a few.
Valerie’s key motivation is to change our approach to privacy, so that privacy is the baseline rather than the goal, and to bring an understanding of privacy that extends beyond legislative dimensions.
Panelist Todd Rowe, Privacy Attorney, Tressler, LLP.
Todd M. Rowe has worked on cyber/privacy matters ranging from pre-breach consultation, breach response to cyber insurance. Todd created Tressler’s Privacy Practice Group before most law firms were even aware of the privacy issues facing their clients.
Over the years, Todd has assisted clients in nearly every industry and level of government to formulate their strategy for privacy and data issues. Todd’s articles and presentations provide insight for others grappling with the emerging privacy issues in the legal, insurance, government and business communities.
In addition to assisting with breach responses, Todd assists clients on the following:
Cyber-Risk Insurance Claims: Working with underwriters on policy provisions and counseling clients on issues in this emerging area of law.
Cyber Response: Working with small and medium sized businesses on cyber/privacy issues both before and after incidents.
In addition to chairing Tressler’s Privacy Practice Group, Todd handles insurance matters related to liability, first party property and E&O/D&O insurance. Todd is also one of the practice lead’s for Tressler’s Insurance Practice Group.
Todd still draws on his significant commercial litigation experience and assists business and industrial clients on contract/indemnity issues, resolving disputes prior to litigation and handling litigation in a number of jurisdictions. Todd also counsels clients on the potential for cyber risk liability and compliance with state and Federal privacy laws.
