hub88 August Virtual TechTalk – High Impact Health Tech for Better Patient Outcomes

Join the hub88 community at for this exciting free virtual TechTalk!

Wearable devices, biosensors, software, and artificial intelligence solutions are improving diagnostic capabilities and patient health.

We will discuss the intersection of healthcare and technology, and improving patient outcomes.

Wearable patient devices detect, record patient vital signs; While software and artificial intelligence algorithms monitor the collected patient health data, and can apply predictive analytics technology to interpret data, provide diagnosis, and even suggest treatment and preventive care. Predicting and averting emergency hospitalizations may occur weeks or months before the health care emergency occurs.

We also live in a new world needing contact tracing to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Contact tracing devices can flag for COVID-19 symptoms and track exposure. They can improve individual and societal healthcare outcomes from COVID-19 and other contagious viruses.

Behind the health tech innovation, patient safety is key (physical and cyber-safety). Physicians seek to be part of product development to apply their clinical analysis nuances to the use of new technology.

Biotechnology, academic thought and clinical analysis will inform this discussion on how that juncture can improve patient outcomes.

Nancy Fallon-Houle, Business, Corporate and Securities Lawyer, Velocity Law, in Downers Grove, IL.

Gary Conkright, CEO and co-founder of physIQ, in Naperville and Chicago IL.

PhysIQ brings machine learning, advanced pattern-recognition technology and predictive analytics to healthcare and digital medicine. PhysIQ’s application, and its FDA-cleared bio-sensor device, using personalized analytics, learns a patient’s baseline data, and detects subtle changes. This provides unprecedented insight to clinicians with early notification of changes in a patient’s health. Its solution uses “machine learning” or “smart” software technology to sort through the masses of patient data from any wearable or implantable device (FDA cleared), to find the clinically significant and actionable intelligence that the healthcare industry needs, reduce avoidable hospital admissions, and produce better patient outcomes. Reduced cost in the healthcare systems follows, as does proactive health management.

Working with leading academic medical centers, and the US Department of Veteran Affairs, physIQ’s Personalized Physiology Analytics platform (PPA) is demonstrating how technology can be used to enable proactive healthcare and drive healthy behavior.

Prior to physIQ, Gary was the founding CEO and Chairman of SmartSignal Corporation (now part of GE Intelligent Platforms), a Chicago-based enterprise software firm, that monitored the health of mission-critical industrial equipment.

Gary has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business and a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University. He is also the named inventor on several issued or pending U.S. patents.

Amanda Schleede, CEO of Vital Circle in Chicago, Illinois. Vital Circle is a health technology company committed to stopping the spread of COVID-19 through symptom tracking & contact tracing.

Vital Circle is a web-based platform, coupled with a secure wearable device, that uses data analytics, to track COVID-19 symptoms daily and to provide contact tracing. The B2B platform is intended to be used by schools, businesses, employers, community organizations, or wherever people gather. It provides leaders with data and analytics to be aware of COVID-19 illness or exposure, to mitigate risk of spread, and to reduce the potential for shutdowns.

The innovative B2B application delivers to leaders, the individual human level risk information, with analytics on their general population, and contact tracing capabilities. Vital Circle provide leaders with the information needed to make educated decisions regarding their communities, to “flatten the curve”. Vital Circle provides the technology to transition companies, schools and orgs back to business.

Vital Circle is a Women-Owned Business, founded by a driven team of healthcare specialists and consultants in March 2020.

Prior to Vital Circle, Amanda has run her own successful consulting practice, and multiple health tech portfolio companies for a VC Firm Abundant Venture Partners. She served as Chief of Staff for multiple health care practices at major health consulting firms Oliver Wyman and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

Dr. Tripti Kataria, MD, Dr. Tripti Kataria is a medical doctor, a board-certified anesthesiologist, a physician executive, and a certified Medical Affairs professional, in Chicago, Illinois.

She is a member of the ‘AI and Continuous Learning Systems Workgroup” in health care and artificial intelligence, the “Xavier Artificial Intelligence Initiative” a collaboration with Xavier Health. This working group was formed to challenge and advance the current thinking on patient health, healthcare, product quality and process improvement in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries through the power of AI, to collaboratively advance the use of artificial intelligence to augment physician human decisions that impact patient health. The Xavier Artificial Intelligence Initiative includes the work Xavier Health is doing with FDA, industry, the AMA, and healthcare providers, to advance diagnostic capabilities and patient health and in technology product development.”

Dr Kataria is the President of the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists; and is a board member of the Chicago Medical Society, and Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee, of the Illinois State Medical Society.

She received her MD from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, and a Master’s in Public Health and Health Care Administration & Management, from Harvard T.H.
